PIP Protective Industrial Products
PIP’s presence in Canada dates back to 2003 when a partnership was struck with Marigold – then owned by SSL. The two organizations teamed up to sell the full range of PIP® gloves along with Marigold’s own line in Canada. At that time, Marigold was globally recognized for its advanced line of chemical and liquid-resistant gloves.
In 2011, following a change of ownership at Marigold, PIP® decided to set up its own division in Canada. Three seasoned and well-known glove industry experts were hired as Regional Sales Managers and a warehouse was set up to cover the entire country. Within a year, the team was joined by a dedicated account manager from ATG®, and spectacular growth ensued.
Meanwhile, in 2008 Claude Roberge – already a legend in the Safety world after having built Arkon Safety Equipment to $80 million, selling it to North and remaining on board to run the Canadian and International businesses – decided to come out of retirement to start Dynamic Safety. As Chairman, Claude brought back John Greer, naming him president and COO, along with a few other key members who had worked together since the early 80s. Today, twenty-one employees still share this deep, connected history and experience with Safety.
By 2018, Dynamic Safety had grown to $30 million and was looking to expand – not only its commercial footprint but specifically, its manufacturing capabilities. Soon after, Dynamic caught the eye of Joe Milot, who was looking to expand commercial operations in Canada and closer-to-home manufacturing. It did not take long for Claude and Joe to strike up a friendship and deal based on their similar visions and years of respect for the industry and what they had accomplished.
In July 2019, Dynamic Safety and PIP Canada joined forces and became part of the PIP Global family. This was followed immediately by investments of more than $1 million in robotics, plant upgrades and a new 50,000-square-foot warehouse, propelling PIP® to become a major supplier of PPE and hand protection in Canada as well as one of the largest manufacturers of compliant hard hats in the world.
